Naia™ is a cellulose acetate fiber from Eastman. Acetate yarn is a bio-plastic material sourced from cellulose and produced with acetic acid, a by-product of fermentation. All wood comes from sustainably managed forests and plantations, specifically eucalyptus and pine trees, with the suppliers all holding certifications: FSC® and/or PEFC™ Chain of Custody.
Wood pulp is processed with acetic acid using a closed loop production process, with about 97% of solvent recovery rate.
Naia™ is fully biobased and certified biodegradable in compost and water, and also certified for home composting.
Naia™ is not only sustainable, but mainly a highly functional material. Unlike other natural fibers, the functions displayed below make Naia™ suitable for collections from fashion to performance. Moreover, garments made with Naia™ are easy to care for at home due to excellent wrinkle recovery, pilling resistance and easy stain removal.
GAC uses Naia™ for its ability to replace synthetics in functional fabrics. Blends of Naia™ with recycled or biobased polyester perform well even under an intense stress and performance. GAC’s baselayers with Naia™ are the next natural step in innovating performance textiles towards a greener tomorrow without sacrificing their performance.
